SPAC WITH FARMERS

SPAC offers extensive assistance to farmers in growing Tapioca. All services are offered free of cost to farmers to enable those to cultivate Tapioca scientifically without degrading soil and also to ensure that healthy tubers are grown.

SPAC has an exclusive Agriculture Department with qualified and experienced staff. A functions of this department includes:

Conducting survey with the help of Field Officers and locating potential areas through statistical data. Once the area is identified farmers are supplied with Tapioca sets and they are helped in planting in the newly identified areas.

They are taught on the correct methods of cultivation, usage of right fertilizer in the right quantity, to maintain plant population, hormore spray, proper irrigation methods and weeding etc.. This ensures healthy tuber with good starch content.

Field Officers regularly visit farmers and assist them in adopting new technology to prevent lesser yield. This helps farmers in terms of realization of profits as well as desists them from changing over to a different plant. We do whatever possible to make growing Tapioca a profitable proposition for the farmers.

Agriculture Department of Spac, works on increasing Tapioca cultivation during off-season periods too. Normally June to October is off-season in India for Tapioca harvesting. Our staffs take necessary steps to help farmers make a Special planting from June to October.

Research work is done on a regular basis in collaboration with Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram, India. We test the results in our farm. Short duration new varieties are tested in our farm.

Agriculture Department closely monitors the crops and transport is provided to the farmers to carry them to our factory. Before harvesting quality of tubers are assessed by Field Officers. Farmers will be issued cutting instructions based on the assessment made by our departments based on the factory requirement.
